Invisalign: Discreet and Effective Orthodontics

How It Works -

Invisalign treatment employs a series of clear, custom-made aligners to gently and progressively shift your teeth into their desired positions. These virtually invisible aligners are crafted from a smooth, comfortable plastic material, making them a discreet alternative to traditional metal braces. Each set of aligners is meticulously designed to make small, incremental movements to your teeth, guiding them gradually towards the final, corrected alignment. For optimal results, each aligner is typically worn for approximately two weeks, for about 22 hours a day, only being removed for eating, drinking, and brushing. After the two-week period, you'll switch to the next set of aligners in the series, continuing the gradual movement of your teeth. This process continues until you reach the final set of aligners, which will have guided your teeth into their ideal positions, resulting in a straighter, more beautiful smile. Throughout your Invisalign journey, you'll have periodic check-ups with your orthodontist to monitor your progress and ensure the treatment is proceeding as planned.

The Treatment -

Wear Time: Your Invisalign aligners should be worn for approximately 22 hours each day. This means you'll only remove them for eating, drinking, and brushing your teeth. Consistent wear is essential for the success of your treatment, as it ensures your teeth are moving gradually and effectively.

Check-up Appointments: You'll need to visit our practice every 6-8 weeks for check-ups and adjustments to your aligners. These regular appointments are important for monitoring your progress, making any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan, and ensuring that everything is proceeding as expected.

Treatment Duration: The average Invisalign treatment time is typically 12-18 months. However, the actual length of your treatment will depend on the complexity of your individual case. Factors such as the severity of your teeth's misalignment, the number of teeth that need to be corrected, and your adherence to the recommended wear schedule will all influence the total treatment time.

Retainers -

After your treatment is complete, you will need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth in their new position. Retainers are usually worn at night, but your dentist will recommend the best wearing schedule for you.

Benefits of Invisalign Treatment

Virtually Invisible: Invisalign aligners are crafted from clear, medical-grade plastic, making them virtually invisible when worn. This discreet nature of the treatment allows you to smile confidently throughout your entire Invisalign journey, without feeling self-conscious about wearing braces.

Removable: Unlike traditional fixed braces, Invisalign aligners are removable. This offers significant advantages, allowing you to eat and drink whatever you love without any restrictions. You simply remove your aligners before meals and replace them afterwards. This also makes it easier to maintain your oral hygiene.

Invisalign aligners are designed for comfort. Made from smooth, biocompatible plastic, they avoid the irritation often caused by the metal wires and brackets of traditional braces. The smooth surface of the aligners minimises the risk of rubbing and sores, providing a more comfortable orthodontic experience.
